Glitterlist Update. The 6 month update on how I’m tracking with it all. Part 1 of 4…..No’s. 1-25.
If I had to give myself a grading I’d be a C+/B- …I think.
I’v broken dealing with this into 4 sections, each newsletter I’m going to recount on how I’m tracking with each point. I started trying to do the entire Glitterlist and that simply got hell overwhelming and I just threw a tissy. So I decided Id take it in bitesize bits - and that been enjoyable and interesting process. Mainly to to see what I’ve started and what I haven’t even looked at….and what I’ve simply avoided.
Organise a gathering of random friends for dinner at each change of the new season. Always Dress up. Have new friends meet old ones & introduce them to each other. Create a ‘Supper Club’ list of friends to always invite to events I hear about. I had 10 days to oranise my wedding in January..so its about time I organised something this month.
Always choose the 'elegant solution' to everything. Slow down & spend time learning, researching and following through on what that is. Made a selection of sticky notes quotes around the house to remind me of this. The kitchen is the most recent project I am working on for the layout - but its been slow. I’m sure there are better apps out there, but currently I’m using the free Ikea Kitchen Planner to plan & get my heard around the kitchen layout 3D visuals (even though I’m not installing an Ikea kitchen)
Create a yearly body of art work & throw a fabulous exhibition opening. Create artwork thought my entire life. Do it daily - make it apart of my routine & create collections between 10-30. Label ‘periods of art’ like Picasso did. Sarah & I heaed over and did a print making workshop during their annual Bruny Island Bird Festival with talented botanical printmaker Rhyll Plant and her sister. Now know how to do the basics of printing, next month I do Alcohol Ink Workshop with Libby Dyer. To get a good routine on this - I joined and started the 100 Day Project with the idea of doing a map a day - but I got to day 17 and it all got too time consuming & I felt guilty as I just couldnt keep up the pace. So instead I have flipped it and turing it into a 100 map challenge to run for the year. and I’ve started this by doing a map a week and building up to 2-3 over the time.
Do the 60 great walks of Tasmania. Map each one. Print those maps. Have booked a couple of nights at the Government Huts out at Mt Field National Park to go see the Turning of the Fagus. Bought some On running waterproof hiking shoes, a few months ago after wearing mine for 1.5 years almost daily - for me they are definaly the best shoe I’ve owned - really light & comfy…but wait till they are onsale. I did the 3 Capes Track in 2022 in them- The midyear stocktake sales are coming up- that would be a good time to stock up on shoes. Also look out for Cape track sales too - they often have a local tasmanian deal in Winter ( cross fingers)
Learn to surf/body board well enough to go to beaches and just surf with Sarah. Have beach fires with toasties & hot coffee to reward myself. So… I cant fit into my wet-suit…and so with this I’m not that good with cold water. Currently doing the organisation planning of 12 week Year and learning how to use the app Notion… both are really testing me as I’m not used to unlearning ways I do things (the bad things that I do) and I have to sit still which for ADHD is hard. Anway - I’m giving it a crack as I can see how useful it will be if I can get my head around it all. Notion is free too. Which is a real win. I downloaded a 12 week year template from Etzy as it was already set up in their format. ‘Surround yourself with people who excel in your weaknesses’ - its it done already…Then pay that little & save that time.
Buy a tiny boat & learn to sail. Leave it on my morning. Spend summers fishing, exploring and messing around on it. Well maybe next Summer. I don’t have any time or pennies for this at all. But I am mapping waterfront spots where boats can go - familiarizing myself with the local coastline. Currently working on a Port Huon one now - but finished the Sandy Bay one last week. I plan to do alot over this winter.
Make an heirloom book of recipes to pass these favourite meals, preserves, and household skills or tips I find. Add & refine these every year. When I did this glitterlist, I gave myself permission to buy any cookbook that I thought was in my values in running and learning about fire cooking. Well I had to quickly stop that behaviour, as its was a financial trainwreck, but I now have a little book collection to test out recipes and have been highlighting the seasonal foods that they have and in addition marking it against what I’d like to grow. I’ve also found I have liked testing some of the tips/hacks from instagram that I save on Instagram. I recently learnt this butter hack….below…
