This week I discovered I’m a trainee ‘Frugalista.’
How doing a $50 week food challenge has made me think twice. and that recipe for the firelighters that cost 4c each.
I sat on the plane on the way back from Perth to Hobart via Sydney and read 'The Joyful Frugalista'. A book I had downloaded once by accident long ago, but never read. Not because I didn’t want to read it, but simply because I cannot bear to sit still and read. I just can’t still that long. To consume something, I have to watch my phone propped up on a window ledge, while washing dishes or folding laundry or something. Even chopping wood, I have to listen to something. Years ago, backpacking I had slowly taught myself to fall asleep while reading. I had gotten good at this and soon only after 2 pages, I would become drowsy and fall asleep. Even though that was a great method for drifting off quickly, it was horrendous later on in my 30’s life when I returned back to university trying to study or reading the newspaper. It would literally take me half a year to get through a publication with the start stop motion.. But after stuck for 4 hours on an airplane with no Wi-Fi… and having only , well I can do hard things and I read the entire book. And maybe because it struck a chord.
